There is a ton of new AI software on the market right now. More keeps coming in each day. A lot of it is really helpful. This blog focuses on my four favorite pieces of AI software for faculty and instructors. It was hard to limit my thoughts to just four. Leave a comment with your favorite AI software for faculty and instructors. If you like this type of content, subscribe to my blog to avoid missing anything.

If you are faculty or an instructor, you are busy. The line between online and in-person courses has become blurry. Learners have higher expectations now than they ever have. There is an expectation of community and quality made content from the faculty and instructors. This is how I structured my search to find my four favorite pieces of AI software for instructors and faculty. Let's jump in.

  1. Loom AI: This is the only one I still need to test. I am on the list to get early access. Let me tell you that this looks amazing. Here is why:

    1. It writes a summary of the video for you. This is a big deal! You can record short lectures or presentations, and Loom will summarize them. You know learners will read the summary, and this will help them better absorb the content they learn from your videos. No more searching for which video.

    2. Oh yeah, Loom will also automatically create chapters for you. This is another big help for learners.

    3. Loom creates captions for your video. Loom already does this, but it is worth mentioning because it is so important. If you use an LMS that can't caption videos created directly in the LMS, you can create inclusive content and step into the 21st century.

    4. You will soon be able to edit your video directly through the transcript. No more finding the exact right moment to make a cut or edit in the video, if it is even possible. You can just trim the autogenerated transcript.

    5. Loom is an amazing tool for giving students feedback! It is a game changer.

  2. Grammarly: Grammarly has Grammarly Go and some other super helpful features. They use the tagline "Personalized AI Everywhere you write." That is pretty cool because it works anywhere I am. I don't have to be in Grammarly to benefit from the tool. It even works inside our LMS! Game changer.

    1. Plagiarism checking is built right into Grammarly. In one click, you can check what you are writing for plagiarism.

    2. Grammarly Go. Grammarly Go is the game changer. Do you ever get stuck when writing? Grammarly Go is an AI text generation tool currently in Beta, with some amazing features. Here are a few.

      1. It identifies gaps within your writing. If you are making an argument or supporting a hypothesis, it can help you identify gaps you may have.

      2. Brainstorm and generate Ideas. It does this better than you may think.

      3. It can help you tell a story. We know that stories are engaging!

      4. These are just three ways Grammarly Go can help you with your writing.

  3. Nectir.io: Nectir.io has two big things going for it in your classroom.

    1. First, it helps to create community among learners. You can put this directly into your course, and there is no need for learners to sign up for accounts. It has been proven to help build community, meaning learners persist and are more resilient. Their tagline is "We combine the power of AI and Social Education to amplify collaboration, increase retention, and prepare your students for the future of work." From the testing that I have seen, it is an amazing tool.

    2. They also have a personalized AI learning assistant named Soma. Every student in your class can now have a personal learning assistant. Soma is always available and can answer many of the routine questions you get. Some will free up your time so you can focus on engaging with your students in ways that impart your experience.

  4. IBL Education: IBL Education has several tools that can benefit you. I am personally drawn to their AI Mentor. It acts as a legitimate chat instructor. It helps learners with any topic you train it for and does not just give learners the answer. It walks the learners through an engaging intervention to teach the learner how to solve the question they are asking the AI to solve for them. It is spectacular.

I know there are many other AI software tools out there for instructors. What are your favorites and why?
